Our Design in Milan tour focuses on the new Museum of Design and on City LIfe

A relaxing walk in the green of Parco Sempione will lead us to the ‘metaphysical’ architecture of the Triennale Design Museum, simply ‘Triennale’ for the Milanese. Designed in 1933 by Giovanni Muzio, it seems to be coming out one of Giorgio De Chirico paintings.

It is the ‘house’ of the Italian and foreign designers that work and live here. The Triennale hosts every year a series of temporary exhibitions and has now a brand new (April 2019) permanent Museum of Design.
The exhibit showcases for the moment 200 objects from 1948 until 1981.

Simple and linear – it follows the chronological order. The display is a fantastic walk through some of the icons of Italian design of the ‘golden years’, starring the Brionvega radio, the Kiss armchair, the ‘moonboots’ and many others.

The Museum of Design will be completed by 2022, see the interview with Stefano Boeri, president of the Triennale here

strongly invite us to get closer.

The Straight, the Twisted and the Curved, signed respectively by Arata Isozaki, Zara Hadid and Daniel Libeskind are the three impressive new ‘giants’ of Milan, each of them with its meanings and peculiarities.

At their feet an enormous park and the largest car-free area of Milan, occupying what was once the International Fair of Milan: offices, apartments, shops, restaurants, free time activities, with an eye to sustainability and respect for the environment.

Our Design in Milan experience goes on into the heart of the City Life complex, browsing its Three Towers Square, the fantastic design shops, stopping at Feltrinelli Red bookshop, exploring the myriad of vibrant cafes and restaurants, savoring the atmosphere of this futuristic new ‘soul’ of Milan.

On top of the ‘Straight’ Allianz Tower, the tallest in Milan so far, the fourth bronze ‘Madonnina’ statue looks at her eldest sister on top of the Duomo, down there in the heart of the old city…
