Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast became World Heritage sites in 1997.

When in Rome, you might consider the idea of taking a long day trip (appr. 10 hours) to visit both, with the assistance of a private car and an English-speaking expert driver.

You’ll be picked up at 8.00 am at the hotel, and start the day enjoying the countryside between Rome and Pompeii, one of the most fertile areas of Italy.

In about 2 hours and 15 minutes you’ll be in Pompeii, where, with the help of your local guide, you’ll experience a very vivid and surprising immersion in the life of a wealthy, small sized Roman city of approximately 2,000 years ago.

Not only the major buildings are preserved, with their wealth of bright decoration and realistic details, but also street signs, advertisements of any kind, shops, taverns, spas, objects of everyday life.

Everything remained ‘frozen’ under over 20 feet of ashes and lava on a late August day of 79 AD.

The site was discovered at the end of the 16^th century, but excavations began by the mid-18^th century and continue today.

Since then the site was visited by generations of adoring tourists.

The impact is almost shocking. No other archaeological site provides so strong emotions.

Your guide will guide through the most interesting buildings and areas, narrating intriguing stories and episodes.

The tour will last approximately two hours.

Back to your car, you’ll continue to Positano, one of the brightest gems on the Amalfi Coast.

Built on tall steps descending to a small attractive beach, this quintessentially Mediterranean town is famous for its pastel colors, oriental ceramic domes, and luscious vegetation of bougainvilleas and vineyards.

You will have some time to enjoy the local cuisine – that deserves a tour in itself! – and to explore the fancy and extravagant fashion boutiques.

Our journey continues to Sorrento, iconic international resort, perched up on a cliff between mountain and sea. a town of cafes with photogenic panoramas, narrow alleyways dotted with old shops selling lace, ceramics and marquetry.

Its vibrant colors and the perfumes of its vegetation will accompany us back to Rome.

At around 6.00/6.30 we’ll be back to the hotel, tired but with eyes and heart filled with great images and memories!
