VENICE FOOD SHOPPING TOUR

Venice food shopping tour.  Experience a gourmet approach to Venice with a focus on the Rialto food market, and can be conducted in the morning from Tuesday to Saturday.

Our guide & Venetian food expert will pick you up at the hotel (if you stay in central Venice) and take to Rialto, the commercial heart of town. You’ll be surprised by the great variety of fishes and seafood on display at the Rialto open air  fish market and learn about what’s typical and what’s not, how we cook the different species. You’ll enjoy the fantastic view on the Grand Canal that make this site unique in the world.

The fruit and vegetable section is a joy for the eyes and for the nose! It varies a lot depending on the season: in spring the baby artichokes are kings, during fall you’ll stare at the display of different mushrooms, in summer the apricots, peaches and figs will make your mouth water! In winter there’s a wonderful variety of red chicories, or radicchio and wonderfully shaped cabbages.

Your Venetian food guide will take you to buy some packed delis, that you can carry home with you, as a precious souvenir of your stay in Venice or as a present for your friends and family back home.

We can also count on family run stores selling an excellent selection of hundreds of Italian wines, ordered by region, that will spur your desire of visiting every single region of Italy.

Our Venice food shopping tour will not be complete without a stop to a traditional wine bar – or bacaro – where you’ll share with the locals the pleasure of a savoury chicheto (appetizer, fingerfood) to be washed down by some good Italian wine.

If you want a deeper experience about Venetian love for drinks and appetizers don’t miss our Walks inside Venice evening tour about ‘cicheti and nizioleti’

Make sure you also book our gourmet tours in Rome and Florence! Your cultural trip to Italy won’t be complete without learning about the regional gastronomic traditions of Italy.
